SEROTNY GLOBAL LIMITED, besides its road construction and building sector, has always been a major player in the leakproofing industry in the entire West Africa, first incorporated in Lagos Nigeria. The company, right from inception has always adopted use of 4mm,4.5mm thick waterproofing membrane for slabs protection against leakages,dampness, water seepage etc. There was a major development in 2016 were the company changed the scope of work in waterproofing/leakproofing methodology due to incessant complaints from its major clients. After a thorough investigation was conducted, it was discovered that waterproofing membranes vertical and horizontal overlapping, usually have openings after some time thereby causing water penetration in between bonded membranes to slabs substrate. this usually lead to cracks on concrete,dampness, leakages, corrosion in reinforcement embedded in concrete. SGL, having conducted a research came up with the jointless liquid plastic solution. This method of leakproofing, erased vertical and horizontal overlapping completely as its method of application was different from waterproofing membrane installation. application is either sprayed via pressurized machine or brush applied. this forms a thick film when dried after application. this eradicated overlapping completely and it equally increased the revenue for the company in 2017 by 9% and 2018 by 14% respectively. the numbers of installers also reduced as a result of the mode of installation that changed. Another method called the multi-functional solvent solution (MFSS) is been introduced to further enhance the company's work scope and technicalities. structural defects are major challenges in the construction industry as a result of this, SEROTNY GLOBAL LIMITED is still conducting more research in other to improve on already existing technology to completely eradicate defects associated with already existing and new buildings.
